Paulina

President

Meet Paulina, Octave's current president. After joining in March 2022, she quickly found her stride as music director before stepping into her current leadership role. In the group, she sings mostly middle to higher parts, soprano 2 is her sweet spot.

Music has been a constant thread throughout her life - from her early days playing flute and singing in choir to performing in musicals. Even medical school couldn't keep her away from music, where she joined the aptly named a cappella group "The Famous Squamous" (anatomy pun intended). 

When it comes to music, Paulina appreciates most genres from EDM to jazz! She loves singing soulful R&B like Alicia Keys, while her playlist is just as likely to feature the ethereal sounds of Florence & the Machine or London Grammar's distinctive alt-rock style.

Josephina

Business Manager

Josephina joined the group in the summer of 2022, shortly after her sister Paulina. Having sung together growing up, joining the group felt like a natural continuation of that tradition. As the current business manager, she oversees social media and gig communications, ensuring everything runs smoothly. While she usually sings the middle harmonies in the group, she enjoys mixing it up by taking on higher or lower parts as well.

Her favorite music is early 2000s pop—if it brings back memories of flip phones and burnt CDs, she’s all in. That said, she appreciates all genres and loves discovering new songs through the group, always excited to expand her musical horizons.

Shawna

Music Director

Shawna, wife, mom of three, and free-spirited mountain girl from the Northwest (where humidity is just a myth), has been jamming with Octave since 2017. As a current music director, she brings both her carefree vibe and sharp attention to detail⎯when she's in the mood! Singing middle with a splash of beatboxing flair, she keeps things fresh and fun. 

Chris

Music Director

Chris joined Octave in April 2023 and stepped into the Music Director role in fall 2023, currently sharing that position with Shawna. Having sung the top soprano voice in most ensembles throughout her life, she enjoys filling in alto and bass parts where needed. Chris grew up very classical in mixed choirs in Germany and enjoys choral works from all the great European composers, but also enjoys R&B, funk, soul, Latin rhythms, and (progressive) rock. Besides singing, Chris plays clarinet in the Atlanta Wind Symphony, and plays volleyball throughout various rec leagues in the metro Atlanta area.

Susanne

Treasurer

Susanne Baskin joined Octave in 1998. After a 15-year hiatus to raise her family, she joyfully rejoined the group once her children gained their independence (and their driver’s licenses!). As the senior member of Octave, Susanne enjoys the musical stylings of yesteryear and anything with a good bass line.

Bri

Bri McIntyre joined Octave in September 2022. Bri sings to her 2 cats who often provide as much critical feedback as possible. Bri enjoys holiday music and sings most parts including Sop 2, Alto 1, Alto 2 and Bass. Bri also enjoys blending exercises as well as 3 part harmonies to help the group sound seamless!

Edwina

Edwina joined Octave in 2006 and is the longest running member: in 2025 it will be her 19th year. She participated in 2 Album recordings with Octave; Stars In The Atlanta Sky (2014) and Rockin around the Peachtree (2018). She was on Leadership team for 10 yrs including President, Business manager, Social Media Director. Today she’s enjoying being a member of the group singing Soprano 1 and occasionally Bass. Hobbies include traveling, and singing her favorite genre which is classical. She enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 daughters, and friends.

Haley

Haley joined Octave in 2024. As one of the newest members, she usually sings lower parts such as alto and tenor. Her favorite music genres are soul, R&B, and pop rock, but she also enjoys a good Baroque classical piece. Besides singing, she also enjoys playing piano, gardening, and baking sweets!
